Ikusa Otome Valkyrie Vol 2

U.S. scientists have created a smart, green coating roofing that attracts or repels sunlight to maintain the temperature inside the house. The invention has been presented in the first round of the 239 annual meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS), held in San Francisco (USA) until February 25.

Until now, one could choose between a light-colored roof, which repels sunlight and reduce air conditioning bills in summer and increases in winter heating, or a dark shingles that attract the sun and reduce heating costs in winter, but literally "fry" the roof in summer. However

resurfacing, manufactured from waste oil from fast food restaurants , can "read" a thermometer and "decide" if it repels or absorbs solar heat outside temperature according dela. "This is a coating materials developed more innovative and practical to date ", says chemist Ben Wen, lead author of the project. "Even by reducing or increasing a few degrees the temperature of the roof can make a big difference in the energy bill," he adds.

The coating is obtained by processing used cooking oil to form a liquid polymer that hardens like plastic. The product is odorless, nontoxic and flame retardant , and can be produced in any shade from light to dark. The chemists hope to market the product within three years and notes that its price will be lower than currently used coatings.
